As most Feng Shui practitioners know, the flying star system has an annual energy cycle. The annual flying star for 2020 can be seen in Figure 1 below.

Let’s take the example of star 8 (wealth star), which visits the North West (NW) sector in 2020. It is tempting to activate star 8 in NW, isn’t it? Nothing is wrong with this idea. However, it is important to understand that the annual energy cycle is just one part of the analysis. Let’s not forget the full chart of the whole property.

Figure 2 is the flying star chart of a period-8, South 2 facing house. The top two numbers in each box are typically called mountain (left) and water (right) stars. These stars are the permanent energy of the sector. The bottom numbers are the annual stars. In 2020, the wealth star is visiting the master bedroom in the NW sector. Yes, we can use this room more often to harness the good energy of star 8 and possibly add enhancers based on the five element principles to further activate star 8 (earth element). This is great, but please also notice the permanent energy in that sector. NW sector is where the stars 5 and 2 reside. Both stars 5 and 2 carry negative energies, and … they’re also earth elements. Therefore, activating star 8 in the master bedroom can also trigger the negative energies of stars 5 and 2.
Let’s talk about another location from Figure 2: the main door area. The south sector has a double wealth star (double star 8!), and being in the main door, the good star 8 is activated most of the time. Several practitioners like to enhance the auspiciousness of star 8 in the main door using the five-element principle. This is great, but there is a caveat. In 2020, star 2 (sickness) is visiting the South sector. Since 2, 5, and 8 are Earth element stars, enhancing star 8 with the element principle can also trigger the negative energy of star 2 (or 5) when they’re visiting annually or monthly. This explains why activation of good stars sometimes does not work as expected or may bring other harms. It is also important to understand that the five-element principle isn’t always the best method to use.
So, which areas are great in 2020? South West and West sectors (front and middle bedrooms) are great areas to use! West sector for example, the permanent energy is defined by white stars 1 & 6, and is visited by star 9. They’re all stars with positive energies. By using this room more often in 2020 and possibly adding enhancers, occupants can harness abundant positive energies.
